BENEFITS SUPPORT SPECIALIST – JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The benefits support specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and ancillary products, as well as managing daily tasks through benefit administration platforms (i.e. Maxwell Health) and answering phone calls from clients.
Essential Functions
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the benefits administration portal to provide carriers with accurate eligibility information
- Ability to multi-task; Answers incoming phone calls as well as manage daily tasks
- Assists with new-hires and terminations for clients
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
- Assists employers and employees with benefits issues and plan changes
- Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes
- Responds quickly and efficiently to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
- Processes paperwork and forms with carriers as needed to make changes and updates
- Assists with the open enrollment process and is able to navigate and edit excel spreadsheets
- Efficiently pull reports and ID cards from carriers and benefit administration systems as needed
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in a related field, but experience and/or other training/licenses may be substituted for the education if applicable
- Two years’ experience in insurance and/or benefits administration
- Bilingual- English & Spanish
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
- 3-5 years of prior customer service experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office products, particularly Excel
